George Mayer
Fine Art Photographer
George Mayer is a fine art photographer currently based in the United States. In 2023, he was granted an EB-1 visa for individuals with extraordinary ability in the arts and relocated to California, marking a significant step in his international career.
George’s work is known for its psychological depth, symbolic imagery, and minimalist aesthetic. He rose to international prominence after winning the Sony World Photography Awards in 2017 in the Portraiture category for his series Light. Shadows. Perfect Woman. The project was widely published across Europe and exhibited at Somerset House in London. With support from Sony, he later created the series Libido & Mortido, continuing his exploration of the human psyche. His photographs have been shown at prestigious venues including the LA Art Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center and Photo London at Somerset House.
His works have been exhibited in over 70 international shows across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia, including MIA Fair Milan, Voies Off Festival Arles, and the Affordable Art Fair Sydney. George collaborates with international galleries such as LightWorks Gallery (Sydney) and Hungry Eye (Amsterdam), presenting his work to a global audience.
Mayer is the recipient of multiple international honors, including awards from the International Photography Awards (IPA), the Color Awards, and the Minimalist Photography Awards. His series Anima won first place in the Nudes category at the Siena Creative Photo Awards in Italy.
His photography has been featured in publications such as Vogue, The Guardian, The Times, Forbes, Photo Press (Germany), and Foto Cult (Italy). His images have appeared on book covers by renowned authors including Nobel Prize winner Mario Vargas Llosa and Bernard Werber, and have been licensed for projects by Netflix (Bright, 2017) and MGM Television (Fargo).
In addition to his artistic practice, George teaches photography through his own online courses and leads masterclasses around the world. He remains actively involved in the international photography community, using his work to foster cross-cultural dialogue and emotional depth.
